Taylor Swift has received the 2012 Honorary Star of Compassion Award by Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services, a Tennessee nonprofit group dedicated to disaster relief and education.
The organization's director Rob Adcock says that country star "has inspired the small community of Northwest Tennessee with her uplifting words and music of encouragement and has become a positive role model for the young and old alike here."
"It is with great honor and appreciation that we present this one of a kind, jeweled award to such an outstanding individual on behalf of our organization," Adcock concluded during a during a presentation at Big Machine Label Group in Nashville, Tennessee.
Northwest Tennessee Disaster Services, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
