Rio 2 movie review

In RIO 2, rare blue macaw lovebirds Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) are now married with three juvenile birds of their own, living in the bird sanctuary established by their married human friends Linda (Leslie Mann) and Tulio (Rodrigo Santoro). During a trip to the Amazon, Linda and Tulio discover that there are more blue macaws living in a remote cluster of Brazil nut trees deep in the rainforest. When news gets out about their discovery, Jewel decides that her overly domesticated family needs to go to the Amazon and find out about their roots -- and, as it turns out, her father, Eduardo (Andy Garcia), and old boyfriend, Roberto (Bruno Mars), are the leaders of the flock. Blu has a tough time acclimating to his new wild environment, but even more trouble is brewing: A greedy logging CEO and Blu's old nemesis, Nigel (Jemaine Clement), are both set to destroy the macaws and their habitat.

Director Carlos Saldanha continues his visual love letter to his home country of Brazil with a second adventure exploring the natural beauty of his native land. The plot of Rio 2 may not be as thorough or exciting as the original, but moving the adventure to the Amazon adds even more colors and animals to a franchise that differentiated itself with its detail to landscapes and location. And thanks to spectacular singers like Mars, Kristin Chenoweth (as Gabi the hilarious poisonous frog), and Janelle Monae joining will.i.am, Clement, and Hathaway, the music is once again fabulously memorable.

Rio's "fish out of water" plot line for Blu already felt played out by the time the original movie was over, so it's a bit of a drag to see him still struggling to fit in with his wild(er) mate Jewel's idea of home. And Fernando, the orphaned boy who played such a prominent role in the original, is only seen once in this installment. But even though it's not quite as singular as its predecessor, Rio 2 is still a fun and thoughtful sequel that will make families leave the theater happy and ready to samba, learn capoeira, and adopt a capybara.

2012 Kia Rio Australian Powertrains Confirmed Ahead Of Q3 Launch

The countdown is on for Kia's all-new 2012 Rio, set for a local sales debut in the third quarter of 2011. This week however, prospective buyers can get an early look at the new Rio at the Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Melbourne.

Shown at AIMS in five-door hatch form, the Rio will be offered locally with two powertrains: a 1.4 litre MPI DOHC CVVT four-cylinder petrol engine, and the company's larger 1.6 litre Gamma GDI four-cylinder petrol engine.

The 1.4 litre engine produces 79kW at 6300rpm and 135Nm of torque at 4200rpm. The larger 1.6 litre GDi engine however gets direct-injection to bring a 13 percent power improvement over the regular 1.6 Gamma engine.

Power for the GDi engine is listed at a sprightly 103kW at 6300rpm with 167Nm of torque at 4850rpm.

Suspension is managed by a MacPherson Strut setup at the front and a torsion beam axle at the rear, with disk brakes all around. Steering is electrically assisted, and the steering wheel is adjustable for both height and reach.

Overall, the 2012 Kia Rio is noticeably larger than the car presently on sale. The new Rio's wheelbase is 70mm longer, while the body is 20mm longer and 25mm wider. Interior space has grown as a result, with 45mm more front legroom and seven percent more luggage room.

Designed to compete in the growing light car segment with the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i20 and Mazda2, Kia will be looking to the Rio - the brand's traditional volume seller - to make a big impact in 2012.

The all-new Rio will go on-sale late in the third quarter of this year in five-door hatch form, available in three specification levels.

The new Rio sedan and three-door hatch will go on sale in early 2012.

Final specifications and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

RIO movie review

Rio is an extraordinary story about overcoming fears and making true friends, regardless of what they look like or how they fit in. The colors are vibrant, the characters are funny, and the story is sweet.

Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) is a rare macaw that is almost instinct.  He has lived all his life in Minnesota with his doting owner and best friend, Linda.  When a scientists asks the two to come to Rio to mate with another blue macaw, Linda agrees and brings Blu to Rio to help save his species.  Blu quickly meets Jewel (Anne Hathaway), who is a feisty and independent bird longing to escape her life in captivity.  And then the adventure begins...

In one sentence, Rio is a very funny-love-adventure of birds which would attract both kids and adults alike!!!!!! That was i thought when i watched ^_^
