Accomplishing a feat once thought impossible, pop-country princess, Hendersonville native and America’s reigning sweetheart Taylor Swift has found beauty in long-depressed Newark, NJ.

According to a tweet, the singer — whose previous accomplishments include becoming the youngest artist ever to win a Grammy for Album of the Year — posted this afternoon reading:

So many beautiful memories from our 4 shows in Newark. Such sparkly, loud crowds! It's raining in NYC now. So pretty.

Such sentiments see Swift breaking the cycle of Garden State tourists who have long seen only staggering homicide rates and the soul-ravaging ruins of economic decimation through the salt of their own tears when visiting the troubled New Jersey city — which has spent 15 years trying to live downa 1996 TIME Magazine ranking as “The Most Dangerous City in the Nation.”

Since Swift’s track record of being super-sweet and positive is more than enough to suggest she doesn’t see beauty in homicide rates and economic decimation, fans are likely to assume the singer’s new book of beautiful memories is culled solely from sights she witness while onstage during her four nights performing at Newark’s Prudential Center last week.

And that the sparkly, loud crowds she praises are hers and not the estimated 150 protesters who gathered in the city’s downtown district Thursday afternoon to rally against unemployment, poverty, crime and taxes among the working class.

At press time, the office of Newark Mayor Cory Booker could not be reached for comment on Swift’s tweet. And in related news, the Scene could not find the time to attempt to contact the office of Newark Mayor Corey Booker.

Taylor Swift cancels three more shows due to illness

The country pop star Taylor Swift announced on Wednesday that she will cancel three more shows due to her illness. The concerts in Charlotte and Atlanta were postponed until sometime in the fall, according to Reuters.

Taylor Swift isn’t feeling well these days. The bronchitis caused her to cancel three more shows, that were scheduled to take place in Charlotte and Atlanta on July 8, 9 and 10. The shows have been postponed for October and November. Her physician has advised her to take it easy. This means she would have to rest a lot and not being on the stage singing 17 of her hit songs, as it was scheduled for each concert.

Swift states that she is truly really sorry for missing out the meetings with her fans. “It breaks my heart to miss out on this weekend's shows with my friends in Charlotte and Atlanta” she said in the statement and continued that she would never cancel a show unless she had serious reasons. “I would never cancel if I thought I was physically able to perform these shows,” she explained. “I am so sorry to the fans, but I look forward to seeing you when we come back through your towns, which we will do.”

These are not the first concerts in her tour that she cancels. Although the “Speak Now” singer has never cancelled a show before, this July it happened four times already. The first postponed a show in Louisville, which had to take place on July 2. Now, she is hoping that she will be able to perform on July 14 in Montreal.

Taylor Swift is one of the most powerful artists in the United States. She has began touring in order to promote her 2010 album, “Speak Now”. She has a crazy schedule, performing in 17 countries around the world and having 98 concerts.

Taylor Swift postpones Georgia, NC concerts

ATLANTA (AP) — Artist Taylor Swift says she's postponing concerts this week in Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C. because she has bronchitis.

Swift said in a statement that she's been advised by her doctor that she's not well enough to perform shows in Charlotte, N.C. Friday and in Atlanta this weekend.

She said the Atlanta show has been rescheduled for Oct. 1, and the Charlotte show will now be Nov. 16.

Miley plays Perth

Miley Cyrus concluded her Gypsy Heart Tour in Perth on Saturday night in front of an almost packed house, with it no doubt being the first concert experience for most there.

The deafening screams and chants of "Miley" began long before the Hannah Montana actress-turned-sexed-up teen pop star hit the stage.

Through a wall of sound that would make Phil Spector green with envy and strobe lighting that should have come with a health warning, the 18-year-old Tennessee native hit the stage in a provocative get-up that channelled Madonna's much maligned Erotica era.

Featuring minimal set design and basic staging, the show was made up of half originals and half covers.

The bizarre covers - which consisted of Poison (Every Rose Has Its Thorn), Joan Jett (Bad Reputation) and Fleetwood Mac (Landslide) - turned the Burswood Dome into a giant karaoke party, with Cyrus' shrill voice managing to pierce through the bombastic music that supported her.

The weirdest moment of the night, and perhaps in this reviewer's concert-going experience, was when Cyrus decided to cover Nirvana's 1991 grunge anthem Smells Like Teen Spirit.

It was truly an odd sight to see a six-year-old dressed as a ballerina dancing in the aisles while Cyrus rather embarrassingly tore into the iconic rock song which was released before she was born.

Cyrus' original music was by-the-numbers US bubblegum rock pop, which the audience lapped up, despite each song sounding more or less the same, with the singer strutting across the stage in similar fashion during each song, mixing things up with moments of hairography.

The only moment of spontaneity came when Cyrus, the daughter of Achy Breaky Heart's Billy Ray, dedicated another odd cover, Gorillaz' On Melancholy Hill, to two of her dancers because this was the last night of the tour and she had worked with them long before she was Hannah Montana.

After finishing her main set with the tween coming-of-age anthem The Climb, Cyrus re-appeared onstage in another risque outfit which looked something like a disco devil leotard before belting out her biggest Australian hit, See You Again.

Unfortunately for the fans, the number was butchered into a hard rock mess.

In the end, it wasn't really a music concert to be reviewed seriously or enjoyed, but something more like a celebrity religious experience, with youngsters in the crowd excited by just being in the same space as their idol for 90 minutes.
