Daniel Radcliffe Says He Probably Won't Appear In 'Harry Potter' Spinoff

People are still asking Daniel Radcliffe to comment on J.K. Rowling's upcoming "Harry Potter" film spinoff, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," and Radcliffe keeps saying the same thing about his potential involvement: never say never, but it's doubtful.

"I would obviously never close the door on something like that entirely, because it would be foolish to. But I don't know under what circumstances I could be convinced that it would be a good idea to do it again," Radcliffe said during an interview with a local CBS talk show in New York. "I'm going to be 25 this year, and Harry's a character that sort of ended at the age of 17. I'm getting a little long in the tooth to be wearing a schoolboy's outfit."

Rowling will adapt "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," a Hogwarts textbook she wrote in conjunction with the "Harry Potter" series of novels, into a film trilogy for Warner Bros.

"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series, but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said about the project in a statement last year.

As such, the movies will focus on Newt Scamander and take place 70 years before Harry Potter's birth, meaning even if Radcliffe was hoping to star, some narrative tomfoolery would be required. Not that Radcliffe hasn't thought of that either: As the actor joked when he first heard about "Fantastic Beasts" last year, Potter could appear in the films "if time travel rears its head again."

Perks of Being a Wallflower Release Date

Summit Entertainment has announced that Perks of Being a Wallflower will open September 14, 2012 in a limited release. Directed by Stephen Chbosky, author of the book by the same name, the movie stars Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller, Mae Whitman, Kate Walsh, Dylan McDermott, Nina Dobrev and Paul Rudd. The first trailer for the film will debut during the MTV Movie Awards on June 3. 

 Emma will be presenting at this year’s MTV Movie Awards along with Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. And she is nominated for three awards this year, including Best Female Performance, Best Cast, and Best Kiss with Rupert Grint for her work in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Voting is open through June 2.

When asked if he was relieved about the film's success, Daniel said: "Absolutely. Yeah, I've never known, really, what it's like to have a film come out where you feel a lot of pressure around the release. And obviously in 'Potter' it was always a question of how big the film was gonna be. So to have a film where you really don't know how it's going to do opening weekend and where you're being released with a load of other films and you haven't got that massively recognisable brand that obviously 'Potter'. had. So you're gonna have to scrap from recognition among those other films." 

Daniel also says it was very "gratifying" knowing audiences were starting to accept him playing other characters rather than Harry Potter. 

 He told Collider.com: "I think it's a testament to the quality of the movie that people not only went and saw it the first weekend but, particularly in the UK, went back for weeks and weeks to see it. And it was great, and for me personally, to see that people will still come out to support a film that I'm in that is not Harry Potter in that they did was just amazing. And I feel I worked hard on the film, both in the actual filming and then in the promotion of it, so it was lovely to see all that work rewarded. It was very gratifying, actually."

The final Harry Potter film is set to be released in theaters this week. In anticipation for the release of The Deathly Hallows Part 2, the stars of the film — Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, author J.K. Rowling, and other cast members — stepped out to have the United Kingdom premiere of the movie this past Thursday. As per usual, the dedicated fan base of the film were ecstatic to see the film stars, especially since the upcoming film is the last movie before they likely move on from the Harry Potter franchise. Radcliffe, for example, was only able to stay in London for just over a day because he had to fly back to New York City in order to work on his Broadway show.

According to the BBC, over 3,000 fans of the book and film camped out at London’s Trafalgar Square in order to get up-close-and-personal with their idols. Of note at the award show, Emma Watson sported her short hair that she cut years back, but went back to a light brunette after she went for a dark blonde at the MTV Movie Awards last month. She wore a very puffy gray Oscar de la Renta ball gown. Many critics say they loved her dress. What they weren’t a big fan of, however, was what J.K Rowling decided to wear — Oscar de la Renta, like Watson. But many have been criticizing the dress as looking like she is wearing a green tablecloth with pink flowers on it rather than a proper dress for the final world premiere of one of the biggest movie franchises in recent memory

Rowling talks 'Deathly Hallows - Part 2,' cast and crew in new interview

A new interview with author J.K. Rowling has been released where she sits down and talks about Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows - Part 2.

She refers to it as a "war movie" and discusses certain characters getting their moment in the final film. She added how the Great Hall was as she imagined it when she first stepped on set in 2000 and said it was horrible seeing it destroyed.

Jo also mentioned what it was like to go to Leavesden Studios and realize how many hundreds of people have jobs because she had an idea on a train.

Finally, she discusses Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint and how they've done her world such an honor.

James and Oliver Phelps, Rupert Grint talk fame, filming, and their future with The Guardian

In another set of interviews, this time with The Guardian, the Phelps twins and Rupert Grint share stories of meeting people in the street, auditioning for new roles and experiences they've shared on set.

Of note, James and Oliver Phelps spoke on how it was decided which twin would be George Weasley and which one would be Fred:

Even when it came to casting them, there seems to have been a temptation to see them as one unit. At first read-through of the script on set, James and Oliver still didn't know which Weasley they would be. "The casting director said, 'You're kidding, right?'," says Oliver. "She went over to speak to Chris Columbus (the director) and J.K. Rowling. I like to think there was a lengthy discussion about who was who, but she came back and said: 'James, you're Fred; Oliver you're George."

Also, Rupert shares his insight on the years of filming the 'Potter' series, from casting through to the final days on set. Rupert spoke of that emotional day, saying:

"At first," he says. "And I wasn't expecting to. But.." He lets himself think about it. "It was when I saw Dan crying." He shakes his head. "Then it really hit me. I'd never seen him that upset. It was just really, really raw."
