Emma Watson celebrates her 24th on muddy Canadian set of new movie Regression

She must be truly dedicated to her job.
Emma Watson spent her 24th birthday on Tuesday on the muddy set of her newest movie Regression.
It was the pretty British star's first day filming the new flick - in which she stars alongside Ethan Hawke - and she was sure to tell her fans via Twitter that it was a 'very cool birthday present.'
Canada clearly had a dose of rain the night before, as Emma was spotted dodging puddles around the film set.
There wasn't much time for the birthday girl to slip into party attire either, with her costume consisting of an array of greys and dirty greens.
The actress wore what looked much like a waitress's uniform, with a faded green pinafore over a green shirt, teamed with ripped grey tights and scuffed leather boots.

She kept warm between takes with a black trench coat, but otherwise looked to have had to put up with the elements in order to play her character in the upcoming thriller.
Emma's brunette tresses were pulled into a casual ponytail and held back with a pink pin - a stark contrast to the look she sported on the multitude of red carpets over the last few weeks on her European promotional jaunt.

Daniel Radcliffe lure Teens to Broadway

During the curtain call of a recent preview performance of "The Cripple of Inishmaan" on Broadway, star Daniel Radcliffe looked up and beamed his world-famous "Harry Potter" smile into the second balcony between each bow.

Was his mother up there? A girlfriend? Nope—the balcony was filled with young teenage fans who got to see the show for a mere $27 a ticket. Each time Mr. Radcliffe looked up, the whole balcony cheered, adding a burst of youthful excitement to a normally staid Broadway evening.

Director Michael Grandage, whose production company is one of the show's producers, has insisted that 10,000 tickets be offered at $27 throughout the 14-week limited run. The strategy is aimed at attracting a crowd that would normally be priced out of the show. The rest of the tickets to "Inishmaan" are going for between $62 and $142 apiece at the box office. There is no guarantee that the discounted seats—which are available on a first-come basis at the box office and online—will go to young people. But producers say younger buyers seem to snapping up the tickets for most performances.

Mr. Grandage says having those screaming teenagers in the balcony "changes the energy in the house" and gives the performers a thrill. Although more money could be made selling the tickets to the traditional middle-aged theatergoer, it's just not as much fun, he says.

What's more, the strategy is about more than fun, Mr. Grandage says. To save what he sees as an art form in peril, the director says it's imperative to get young people into theaters. "We will eventually be dead, and if there is no one to replace us, there won't be any theater," says the former head of London's Donmar Warehouse. The best marketing tool for theater is the show itself, he says, but it's so expensive that young people can never go.

Michael Grandage, the director of the new production of "The Cripple of Inishmaan" starring Daniel Radcliffe, has had success in London with a program that lures young people to theaters with cheap tickets. Will he try it on Broadway? WSJ's Stefanie Cohen discusses. Photo: "The Cripple of Inishmaan."
His own interest in theater began that way—he grew up in the remote area of Cornwall and got to see "Jason and the Argonauts" when the production "pitched a tent on the local green," he says. Later he got to see Ian McKellen in "Twelfth Night" when the Royal Shakespeare Company sent out a small-scale tour of the show to Mr. Grandage's local sports center.

"I wouldn't be here if those two things hadn't happened," he says.

After leaving the Donmar in 2012, Mr. Grandage formed his own production company with his former Donmar producer James Bierman. Together, they developed a model that allowed for lower-priced tickets. They produced five shows on London's West End over 15 months that offered 102,000 seats—25% of the available tickets—for 10 pounds ($17) each. Because they asked investors to put up money for all five shows across the entire season instead of a single show, they were able to create a "spread bet for our investors which offset some of the individual risk if any one of the shows failed to perform at the box office," says Mr. Bierman.

The model brought in profits, they say, (although they wouldn't disclose a figure,) and was also successful at bringing new faces to the theater. Out of 392,000 tickets sold to the five plays, 120,000 were to first-time theatergoers, according to Mr. Bierman, who says ticket bookers tracked how many sales went to first-time buyers.

The flip side of their mission, they admit, is that if they attract young people to the theater and they hate what they see, the theater has lost them for life. For that reason, the two have targeted top talent for their shows. In the last year, Jude Law starred in "Henry V" and Judi Dench headlined "Peter and Alice," about the meeting between Alice Liddell Hargreaves of "Alice in Wonderland" and Peter Llewelyn Davies of "Peter Pan." Mr. Radcliffe, who has starred in "Equus," and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway, signed up for "Inishmaan," which is transferring to New York from a successful run on the West End.

The play, by Martin McDonagh, is a tragicomedy that follows the effects on a small Irish town in the 1930s when a film crew arrives to make a movie about their lives. The town turns upside-down when "Cripple Billy," Mr. Radcliffe's character, decides to try out for the movie.

"We have been able to recoup for our investors in the U.K.," says Mr. Grandage. "Were making less than we could, but we are still making money."

Why Emma Watson Won't Date Anyone Famous.

Have you (like the rest of us) been pining over Emma Watson since she stepped on the screen as Hermione Granger? You may be in luck. As long as you haven't been making it into the tabloids recently, you're just her type.

The 23–year–old spoke with Elle Australia for their April issue about the woes of dating a celebrity and why she won't be signing up anytime soon.

"I don’t date people who are famous," Watson admitted. "I don’t think it’s fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me. I wish I could protect them."

Watson's theory could explain her relationship with current boyfriend Matthew Janney, a rugby player at Oxford University.

Daniel Radcliffe Says He Probably Won't Appear In 'Harry Potter' Spinoff

People are still asking Daniel Radcliffe to comment on J.K. Rowling's upcoming "Harry Potter" film spinoff, "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," and Radcliffe keeps saying the same thing about his potential involvement: never say never, but it's doubtful.

"I would obviously never close the door on something like that entirely, because it would be foolish to. But I don't know under what circumstances I could be convinced that it would be a good idea to do it again," Radcliffe said during an interview with a local CBS talk show in New York. "I'm going to be 25 this year, and Harry's a character that sort of ended at the age of 17. I'm getting a little long in the tooth to be wearing a schoolboy's outfit."

Rowling will adapt "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," a Hogwarts textbook she wrote in conjunction with the "Harry Potter" series of novels, into a film trilogy for Warner Bros.

"Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the 'Harry Potter' series, but an extension of the wizarding world," Rowling said about the project in a statement last year.

As such, the movies will focus on Newt Scamander and take place 70 years before Harry Potter's birth, meaning even if Radcliffe was hoping to star, some narrative tomfoolery would be required. Not that Radcliffe hasn't thought of that either: As the actor joked when he first heard about "Fantastic Beasts" last year, Potter could appear in the films "if time travel rears its head again."

Emma Watson not concerned about boyfriend's reputation

Harry Potter star Emma Watson is reportedly not worried about her new boyfriend Matthew Janney's reputation as a ladies man.

The 23-year-old actress started dating the rugby-playing British hunk since splitting with long term boyfriend Will Adamowicz, and is ignoring her friends' warnings that he is could break her heart, reported Star magazine.

"They had instant chemistry. People have warned Emma about his past, but she doesn't care. She became infatuated with him immediately, and he loves her attention," a source said.

The couple were spotted kissing on a romantic break in the Caribbean earlier this month, and Coralie Day - Matthew's guardian, who has looked after him since the death of both his mother and father from cancer, leaving him orphaned at 16 - says she's 'thrilled' for them both.

"We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson. We are looking forward to meeting her soon. Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely," she had said.

Daniel Radcliffe returning to Broadway for third time

Daniel Radcliffe is set to appear on Broadway for a third time, as he reprises the role he played in London’s West End last summer in The Cripple of Inishmaan.

The Harry Potter star, who made his New York theatre debut in a 2008 production of ‘Equus’, will join the rest of the London cast of The Cripple of Inishmaan when it transfers to the US on 20 April for a three-month run.

The play, which was a sell-out when it ran in the West End last summer, follows disabled teenager Billy’s attempt to become a movie star when a Hollywood production is filmed on an island near his Irish home in the 1930s

Emma Watson manages a slight smile as she gets photobombed by a goofy fan at LAX

The 10-plus hour flight from London to Los Angeles can be gruellingly long.
So when British actress Emma Watson touched down in LAX Sunday evening, she looked ready to call it a day.
Good natured with fans, the 23-year-old just managed a slight smile as an ardent fan photobombed her as she left the airport and headed for home.

When the Harry Potter actress - dressed comfortably in black trousers, a grey shirt and black jacket -  initially touched down at the airport, she seemed happy to be on solid ground and smiled at fans.
She strolled happily from the gate to the terminal exit.
But when the Perks of Being a Wallflower star walked outside in order to meet her ride, an over-the-top fan jumped suddenly beside her to have his photo taken next to her.
Although Watson kept her cool, she high tailed it out of the airport.

Daniel Radcliffe wanted to quit 'Harry Potter' after the third film

London: Actor Daniel Radcliffe, who rose to fame by playing boy wizard 'Harry Potter' in the movies based on J K Rowling's books, says after the third film he thought of quitting the franchise.
The 24-year-old actor was convinced that another young actor could take over the part from him after 2004's 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', reported Contactmusic.
"By the third film, I thought, if there's a time to get out, it's now; there's still enough time for another actor to come in and establish himself," Radcliffe said.

"For a while, I thought, if I do all of them, will I be able to move on to other stuff or should I start doing other stuff now?," he added.
However, Radcliffe decided to stay back because he realised the value of his role.
"But in the end I decided I was having way too much fun. And actually there aren't many great parts out there for teenage boys, certainly not as good as Harry Potter."

One Direction, Daniel Radcliffe Top List of Richest British Celebrities Under 30

LONDON – One Direction tops the latest annual heat magazine list of the richest British celebrities under the age of 30, with combined estimated earnings of $95.70 million (£59.33 million) for the past year.

Ranking just behind the boy band is Daniel Radcliffe, with an estimated $90.64 million (£56.19 million), making him the top-earning individual on the list. The Harry Potter star had topped the list since its inception in 2010.

One Direction are Harry Styles, 19, Niall Horan, 20, Zayn Malik, 20, Liam Payne, 20, and Louis Tomlinson, 21.

Rounding out the top five are Robert Pattinson ($71.23 million, £44.16 million), Keira Knightley ($60.13 million, £37.28 million) and Emma Watson ($45.05 million, £27.93 million).

The top new entrant on the young British celebrity rich list is DJ Calvin Harris, with estimated earnings of $35.80 million (£22.20 million).

Other new additions include singer Jessie J ($9.16 million, £5.68 million), model/actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ($9.08 million, £5.63 million), The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield ($8.06 million, £5 million) and boy band JLS ($7.85 million, £4.87 million).

The biggest gain goes to The Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan, who rose 10 spots to come in 19th.

Hope that's Lancome! Emma Watson blends into the background as she shops for make-up with a friend in Los Angeles

It looks like the make-up reserves are running low for former Lancome model Emma Watson who was spotted shopping for cosmetics on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old looked casual as she browsed the shelves at Century City's Sephora store in Los Angeles, accompanied by a friend.

The Bling Ring star looked inconspicuous as she carried a number of shopping bags, which suggested her evening outing had been a successful one.

Dressed in an oversized grey coat, which hid the star's slim figure, Emma wandered about the shops before stopping to pick up some make-up. The brunette beauty, who has modelled for Burberry in the past, also wore plain black skinny jeans and matching patent brogues.

Emma kept her hair down over her shoulders, which she now appears to prefer in a longer style after going for a very short, elfin crop in 2010. While her companion, who had even more bags than her famous friend, wore an eye-catching pair of trousers and a beige, loose-fitting jacket.

The actress, who has studied at Brown University in the US and as a visiting student at Worcester College, Oxford, was rumoured to have signed a six-figure deal when she became an ambassador for the French beauty brand two years ago.

At the time she said: ‘Although I don’t wear much make-up I’m a big fan of Lancome products, especially their mascara.’

The star was recently voted the sexiest actress in the world in a poll carried out by Empire Online, topping the bill alongside fellow-Brit Benedict Cumberbatch.

She was spotted looking much more glamorous earlier this month, when she attended the Gravity premiere in New York City, wearing an off-the-shoulder white dress and metallic heels.

Rupert Grint is NSFW in new clip from 'CBGB'

Perhaps fans shouldn’t be surprised to see the Harry Potter star shedding his clothes in a new, NSFW clip from the film CBGB, named after the iconic club that featured the acts that kicked off New York’s punk scene. Grint, alongside Justin Bartha, star as the Dead Boys. Johnny Galecki, Ashley Greene, and many others join them as some of the other iconic acts that passed through CBGB’s doors. Perhaps most excitingly for Potter fans, Grint will be joined by Alan Rickman, who portrays CBGB owner Hilly Kristal.

Jamie Campbell Bower challenges Rupert Grint to shave off all his hair

The cheeky Mortal Instruments actor, 24, shares a Harry Potter filming credit (they were both in The Deathly Hallows) with 25-year-old Grint and took delight in challenging his former co-star to shave off his ginger locks.

‘Here’s my dare for Rupert Grint – shave all of your hair off. All of it,’ the blonde London lad said.

‘Eyebrows, head… the lot! That is my dare to you Rupert Grint. If you do that, I will do the same,’ he went on, talking to Hunger magazine for the I Dare You video section of their website

Emma Watson Models Custom-Made Green Gowns For 'The Edit'

At 23, Emma Watson is a grown Muggle woman—and The Edit’s got the pictures to prove it. Polished, poised and far, FAR from Hermione, the actress and eco-activist was recently tapped by Green Carpet Challenge creator, Livia Firth, to star in an editorial spread that supports ethical fashion AND looks super pretty. BTW, if you’re scratching your head about the phrase “ethical fashion,” it’s not as cray as it may seem. And it’s not all tie-dye and Tevas and giant threads of harsh hemp made into a basket-weave bodice. (Although, if something like that exists, I would very much like to see it.)

Ethical fashion focuses on producing “something responsibly that explores sustainability,” says Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, who was one of five British-based designers involved in the project, along with Christopher Kane, Victoria Beckham, Erdem and Roland Mouret. And while it's not exactly an abundant alternative yet, that's something that Firth and Watson are hoping to change. "I’ve always had this huge problem," Emma confessed. "I would love to wear garments that are ethically sourced, but there aren’t enough options for me to be able to do that realistically."

ICYMI, Watson’s been involved in green fashion for a while now, so she was an obvious choice to showcase the spread. In 2010, she designed a collection for Fairtrade brand People Tree. Then in 2011, she teamed up with Alberta Ferretti to create a sustainably-produced capsule collection called Pure Threads. What now, Emma? A shoe made entirely from recycled Diet Coke cans?! Makeup made from compost remains?! *shudders, takes back suggestion* "It just seemed like [the project] was something I had to do, something I'd been waiting for," she says. "Livia's created a lobbying body to put pressure on governments and corporations to encourage them to have [ethical responsibility] as their baseline. It's quite awesome." Well, and Emma Watson, YOU'RE awesome.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe takes break from acting after West End stint

A lot of people who hadn’t seen The Cripple of Inishmaan bought into the stories that the play was making its star Daniel Radcliffe ill.
They were unware that the Harry Potter actor liked to make a quick exit from the Noël Coward Theatre after performances and often didn’t bother to remove his make-up. In his final scenes in the play, it scarcely made him look a picture of health, as his character, getting over TB, was badly beaten up.
Radcliffe now says the play left him only “slightly exhausted”, and that was because he was combining it with making a second series of Young Doctor’s Notebook. He plans to return to the rigours of the boards after a short break.

Emma Watson Is Set To Star In 'Your Voice In My Head'

She's been a witch, a thief and a wallflower's bestest friend, but Emma Watson's next role might be her most interesting yet: According to Deadline, the actress is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of "Your Voice in My Head," in which she'll play a young English writer living in the U.S. and struggling with bipolar disorder.

The movie is based on Emma Forrest's book of the same name, a powerful memoir of the writer's journey through the turmoil of mental illness—and her ultimate recovery, thanks to the support of a gifted and dedicated psychiatrist. The project has been in the works since 2012, with both Emma Watson and Emily Blunt rumored to be its leading lady before Emma sealed the deal this week. (Also rumored: Stanley Tucci in the role of the wonderful shrink.)

Meanwhile, this is new territory for Emma, who pushed the limits of her good-girl image with "The Bling Ring" this year but still has yet to play a real grown-up role—and considering the content (Forrest's memoir doesn't spare any details when it comes to her struggles with cutting, bulimia and abusive relationships), we can expect to see the actress in some seriously challenging, gritty scenes.

How Daniel Radcliffe Made Harry Potter Disappear

TORONTO — There is no model for Daniel Radcliffe’s career. This is a young man who became instantly famous across the planet when he was 11 years old, and who played the same leading role in eight enormously successful movies that have grossed $7.7 billion dollars in movie theaters worldwide — all before he was 23. Even if Radcliffe never worked another day in his life, no other actor in the history of modern Hollywood has had a professional experience that comes close, and likely never will.
But Radcliffe is far from resting on his laurels. At the Toronto International Film Festival, he is starring in three very different movies in three very different roles, demonstrating an undimmed drive to prove himself both as a leading man and as an actor. (Well, the performances do have at least one thing in common: In all three movies, Radcliffe does get naked.) Here is an assessment of all three films:

Radcliffe plays Wallace, a British medical school drop-out living in Toronto with his single-mother sister and nursing a broken heart. At a party hosted by his old college roommate Allan (Adam Driver, Girls), he meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan, Ruby Sparks), a witty and winsome animator, and their instant verbal banter quickly establishes a major connection. One snag: She has a boyfriend (Rafe Spall, Life of Pi) of five years, who’s a big-deal lawyer with the United Nations, and is a pretty good guy. So Wallace and Chantry become friends instead.
Granted, this is basically a 21st century version of When Harry Met Sally…, but like that ’80s romcom classic — and unlike so many other ungainly romcoms that have followed it — The F Word is refreshingly funny and romantic in all the right proportions, with spot-on direction from Michael Dowse (Goon, It’s All Gone Pete Tong) from a delightful script by Elan Mastai (The Samaritan). Of Radcliffe’s three films at TIFF, this is the most commercial — late Tuesday, CBS Films closed a $2.5 million deal to distribute the film in the U.S. — with the least obvious heavy lifting. But these kinds of light comedy performances are deceptively tricky to pull off, and Radcliffe and Kazan both keep the sparks between them alight and alive throughout the film.
Romantic leading man? Check.

If you have been expecting Radcliffe to make a radical break from Harry Potter, look no further. Based on Joe Hill’s 2010 novel of the same name, Horns chronicles the strange fate of Ig Perrish, a twentysomething layabout in the Pacific Northwest whose life is upended when his whole town believes he brutally murdered his girlfriend Merrin (Juno Temple), making him out to be a figurative devil. And then he becomes a real one, suddenly sporting horns one morning after a bender — horns that cause everyone around him to divulge, and act on, their darkest impulses.
It’s as weird as it sounds. Directed with gothic polish by Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D, The Hills Have Eyes) from a script by Keith Bunin (HBO’s In Treatment), the film unfolds as a surreal, Miltonesque murder mystery. At first, Ig is horrified by both his horns and the behavior they provoke, but eventually he gives into it, and Radcliffe, sporting a flat American accent, gets to indulge in the kind of wicked, violent behavior he could never contemplate while playing a boy wizard. And to my eyes at least, he pulls it off, never pushing things into trying-too-hard Mileyville. The movie doesn’t quite follow his lead — the whodunit mystery is a bit too obvious, for starters, and its hard-R violence and nudity could propose a tricky marketing challenge for prospective distributors hoping to rope in teenage Potter fans. Then again, “Harry Potter goes really bad” does have an appealing kick to it.
Dark and twisted horror star? Check.

First premiering at the Sundance Film Festival last January (and opening in theaters on Oct. 16), this film announces Radcliffe as a big screen presence who can embody a fully realized character who isn’t Harry Potter — not with movie star charm or genre flick thrills, but with nuanced, humane acting. Kill Your Darlings retells the true, formative story of Beat poet paragon Allen Ginsberg, and the electrifying friendship he strikes up his freshman year at Columbia University with the sexually exuberant Lucian Carr (Dane DeHaan, Chronicle) — the man who introduces Ginsberg to Beat luminaries William Burroughs (Ben Foster) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston), and the man with whom Ginsberg falls desperately in love.
It is 1944, however, and this is a love that truly dare not speak its name, so Radcliffe, employing a steady New Jersey accent, can only really convey Ginsberg’s longing for Carr with his wide, intelligent eyes — the sort of wordless acting that Radcliffe himself has said was the weakest part of his performances as Harry Potter. Here, though, working with first-time feature director John Krokidas (who wrote the script with Austin Bunn), Radcliffe does it effortlessly. It also certainly helps that DeHaan’s Carr is quite the object of desire, the sort of intoxicating and infuriating figure many a college freshman have found irresistible. (Or maybe that was just me?)
More to the point, Radcliffe pulls off something I once thought wouldn’t be possible: I never once thought about Harry Potter while I was watching this film.
Talented actor who is far more than his most famous role? Check.

Daniel Radcliffe earned 17 mn pounds last year

“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe reportedly earned a profit of 17 million pounds from his work last year.

The company that manages his assets, including all Potter-related earnings, is now worth 48 million pounds – up from 31.2 million pounds in 2011, reports thesun.co.uk.

“He’s very savvy with money and is worth far more than many successful actors twice his age. Hollywood has been a big earner for him. But Daniel’s gone further and sunk that capital into shares and property. He’s been the same way throughout his career,” a source said.

Radcliffe was last seen in “The Woman In Black”. His next film will be a thriller titled “Horns”.

Emma Watson looks stunning in unusual graphic cut-out dress at The People's Choice Awards

It was a night of undoubted glamour.
And British actress Emma Watson certainly flew the flag for the UK at The People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening in a very short graphic cut-out dress which accentuated her slender figure.
Emma, 22, opted for an unusual thigh skimming Peter Pilotto dress for the glitzy awards bash, where she picked up Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress for movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The Harry Potter actress looked delighted to pick up an award at the ceremony, which is known as the younger, funkier sibling of the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
And during the ceremony, nerves obviously high the young actress was seen cosying up to Wallflower co-star Ezra Miller, who looked dashing in a grey suit.

Emma Watson stopped by US border officials

According to The Sunday People, the 22-year-old 'Harry Potter' star singled out after landing at New York's JFK airport and told she should be accompanied by an adult.

The flustered actress, who was eventually waved through and managed to laugh off the incident, later revealed that she is often mistaken for a kid and blamed the fact she was wearing a schoolgirl-style backpack.

According to a source, Watson was mortified, and not only did they not recognise her, they thought she was a child. It was very embarrassing but she managed to awkwardly laugh it off.

The British actress, who recently finished filming her latest movie 'This Is The End', later told of her embarrassment on Twitter.

"Passport control: 'Unaccompanied minor?' Me: 'Sorry?' Passport control: 'Where is ur guardian?' Me: 'I'm 22!!!!!!!' #neverwearingabackpackagain," the Mirror quoted her as tweeting.

"The really sad thing is that this is not the first time this has happened," she added.

The star was returning to the US where she was expected to continue her studies at Brown University, Rhode Island.
