Miley Cyrus - A Top Role Model in the UK

A recent reader poll called Miley Cyrus a top role model in the UK. This may translate in a good way or a bad way. For instance, the Hannah Montana star wrote on Twitter today:

""You know the world is skewed [sic] when people get away with murdering children but we cant [sic] get gay marriage legalized in the state of California."

So, while at first blush, putting Miley Cyrus at the top of a list of role models sounds silly, at best, you then realize that a top role model is not necessarily someone who is perfect. Rather, a top role model is someone who others look up to, who that person appreciates and who that person even emulates. In fact, there are many role models who are just plain bad.

Given that criteria, Miley Cyrus does fit the bill for the Fleckling poll, even though during the past two years or so, this celebrity has done quite a bit of experimenting (or so it seems). And with that experimentation came the alleged use of a water pipe, taking cell phone photos in her underwear, risqué concert clothing, and intermittent rude behavior, all of which has showed up in the headlines and on YouTube.

Beyond that, though, Miley Cyrus is also a fine force to be reckoned with as a singer and actress. She has done quite a bit to build a huge career at a very young age. Since starting off as a Disney princess, this teen has grabbed plenty of fan attention as she grew up at the same pace as her fans And, as such, many who admire Miley Cyrus sit demographically in her peer group, which makes this star a person who may want to watch what she does to affect her public image.

On the other hand, Miley Cyrus is also at that age--the one when everyone wants to see who she or he is or who she or he will become. And, experimentation is often the route to finding that out--for anyone, let alone for this multi-talented person.
