Miley Cyrus covers The Gorillaz

Miley Cyrus has recently caused a stir after covering The Gorillaz new track, “On Melancholy Hill.”

Since covering Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” recently, Cyrus has taken some vicious criticism from the Internet community about her versions of popular songs.

Gigwise has commented, Cyrus’s covers of Fleetwood Mac, and Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” led to similar results: an audience of displease.

Stereogum was potentially of the harshest critics, stating, “Not a dry eye in the house. Or a dry ear. Because everyone’s ears were bleeding is what I’m saying.”

A quick glance through some Internet comments on the video of her cover can reveal some interesting reactions to the song. Though Cyrus’s fans are loyal and will stick by her, based on the buzz surrounding most of her covers, the fans don’t seem terribly pleased with her renditions of popular tracks recently.
